Fifty Years of Service
John Howard Society of Sudbury

The John Howard Society of Sudbury is celebrating our fifty years of service to the Sudbury community in 2011.  We officially began on December 6, 1960 by serving the men from the old Burwash penitentiary by assisting them with bus tickets to their homes throughout Canada.  Our original annual budget in 1961 was $500.00 !  We have certainly grown throughout the past fifty years.  Dedicated persons such as Rev. Mort Patterson, Rev. Ab Vickers, Rev. Bernard Burns P.P., Judge H. Waisberg, Mr. Frank Southern, Rev. N.A. Russ , Rev. G.W. Wright,  Mr. Frank Day and Mr. Gerry Lougheed Sr. were instrumental in our beginnings.

Special 50th  Anniversary Events:

Sept 9, 2011 7 - 9:30PM	Rainbow Cinemas Movie: Music From the Big House Q&A with Rita Chiarelli after movie	Cost: 20 / Person

The Open House on December 10, 2010 was a tremendous kick off to our 50th anniversary. Over 60 people attended and the event was covered by our local media.
