BILL PASSI MEMORIAL FUND

One cannot think of the John Howard Society of Sudbury without the name, Bill Passi, coming to mind. Introduced as executive director in 1980, Passi, a lawyer, dedicated himself to the mandate of the John Howard Society of Sudbury and with his astute business acumen, led the Society from a rocky financial path to true stability.

After Bill's untimely death in 1986, the man known as "the man with the cigar" left behind a legacy accomplished by few. He is remembered as a remarkable man, hard working and easy going who worked directly with men from custodial settings, guiding them through the hierarchy of the legal system.

EVERY PENNY DONATED TO THE BILL PASSI MEMORIAL FUND IS USED FOR OUR DIRECT SERVICE WORK. DONATIONS TO THIS FUND CAN BE NAMED TO THE JOHN HOWARD SOCIETY OR THE BILL PASSI MEMORIAL FUND

Celebrating People

Congratulations to Delbert Gates, Glen Gaffney, Armand Roy, Mary Jane Veinott, Sylvie Blais, Richard Dionne, Pauline Lamirante, Marcie Wolynsky and Nadia Staulus on receiving the Barry McDonald Memorial Volunteer of the Year award in 2006. They donate countless hours of their time in many areas and are noted for their easy going personable nature with our clients. Our organization is strengthened by their presence.

It is with great appreciation that we recognize Mr. Robert Brunette with the John Howard Society of Sudbury Honorary Life Membership award in 2006. Mr. Brunette has worked many hours as a member of our Board of Directors and has guided us through many difficult areas. Our mandate is invigorated through his work.

Congratulations to Jason Mitchell, the 2006 Ontario Charitable Gaming Association Volunteer of the Year. Jason volunteers for the John Howard Society of Sudbury and has been assisting us with fundraising for the past 10 years. He is a versatile volunteer, actively involved in the work in areas that range from clerical and reception to fundraising.

MY EXPERIENCE

To:
The John Howard Society

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help I received through the John Howard Society since my incarceration.

It has meant a great deal to me and will make my integration back into society much easier. I wish to express my deepest appreciation for forwarding generous contributions to organizations such as this one.

I will be relocating to the Ottawa region where I hope to make a living at soap carving. Hopefully, the buyers market will be more favorable to me. I will forward one of my carvings your way when I get settled down.

Sincerely,
M.U.

To:
To whom it may concern.

Due to my unforeseen circumstances, I was put in an overwhelming position in need of help. The John Howard Society was most helpful and humane hence, I would humbly like to extend my deepest gratitude to your organization and also applaud your commitment to helping those in need

Sincerely

To the John Howard Society

Hello my name is B.V. and would like to take this time to give you a very special thanks to the John Howard Society and those who support the Society. If it wasn't for the JHS me and my family would have no where else to turn when we were in the time of need. The JHS had given me and my family the support I need to get back on my feet and provide for my family. For this I am eternally grateful and hope someday I will be able to help someone else out as JHS has and yourselves.

Yours Sincerely,
BV
